Fiji Bati preparations well underway

The Vodafone Fiji Bati will be following the same 2008 Rugby League World Cup preparations format as only a few days remain to the start of the Pacific Cup in Papua New Guinea.

Coach Josaia Rabele says the World Cup format helped them achieve their goal of semi-final finish which they hope will also help – as Fiji hunts for a spot to the 2010 Four Nations.

“It is the same preparations we followed last year we believe it will help the players especially the new players in the side we acitivitesd lined up to ensure the players are well prepare before the Pacific Cup.”

Meanwhile former Bati fullback Jaryd Hayne has been named in the Australian Kangaroos side for the Four Nations Tournament.

Hayne will most likely be pushed out to the wing with Billy Slater retaining the full-back position.

Australian rugby league selectors have recalled veteran Nathan Hindmarsh, who has not represented Australia since 2007, has won back his Test jumper after an outstanding back half of the year with the grand finalist Eels.

There were still injury concerns over some players in the squad including Petero Civoniceva who will need to prove their fitness before the team departs on October 16.

Australia's first game of the Four Nations is against New Zealand on October 23.
