Dont underestimate the cooks!

Inspirational Vodafone Fiji Bati Captain, Wes Naiqama, has warned his troop that Cook Islands will be no walkover during their Pacific Cup encounter tomorrow afternoon.

Naiqama rates the Cooks as a tough nut to crack and says they deserve their close 22-20 victory over the mighty Samoans last weekend. After analysing their opposition in the match against Samoa, Naiqama believes the Cooks' strength lies in their attack.

“If there is anything I'm stressing to the boys, they're not to underestimate the Cook Islands team. They are a good side with most of their players playing in the National Rugby League competition. They will be tough to beat. They will be very dangerous on attack and we will have to defend well,” Naiqama said.

The Vodafone Fiji Bati skipper is confident that the team will win the Pacific Cup and book a place in the Four Nations competition which include world champion, New Zealand, Australia and England. Naiqama says while they will miss last year's Rugby League World Cup rep, Jarryd Hayne and Semi Tadulala. He remains confident that they can successfully complete their mission and that is to win the Pacific Cup.

“Obviously we will be missing a couple of boys who could not be here for whatever reason, but I have faith in the team,” he said.

The NRL Newcastle Knights star, said the onus would be on him to guide the side against the gutsy opposition.

“I captained the side at last year's World Cup and have been given the opportunity again. It is an honour and privilege to be given to lead Fiji again.”

The skipper celebrated his 27th birthday last Monday. He said a win would be a perfect way to end the week.

“A win will be a perfect birthday present for me,” he said.

The match kicks off at 5pm local time tomorrow.
